Traditional festival celebrated on Chinese patrol ship

ABOARD HAIJIAN 83, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The crew on board Haijian 83, one of China's marine surveillance ships, on Sunday celebrated the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival as the ship is patrolling on the East China Sea.
The China Marine Surveillance ships are under the administration of the State Oceanic Administration. They have performed regular patrols and law-enforcement activities in waters under China's jurisdiction since 2006.
In September this year, the ships including Haijian 83 conducted law enforcement and patrol activities around the Diaoyu Islands to assert China's sovereignty over the island and its affiliated islets.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth month in Chinese Lunar calendar, symbolizing harvest and family get-togethers.
