Greek-owned tanker missing off Ivory Coast: Greek shipping company

ATHENS, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- A Greek- owned tanker with 32,000 metric tons of fuel and 24 crew members, has gone missing off Ivory Coast, the Greek shipping company managing the vessel said on Monday.
According to Grace Management S.A. in Athens, contact with the Bahamas- flagged "Orfeas" was lost close to Abidjan, where it was scheduled to deliver its cargo. The ship with two Greek nationals and 22 Filipinos onboard, is said to have left the port without notice.
"Orfeas" is believed to have been hijacked by pirates operating in the area, since many vessels have been attacked by pirates off the coasts of western Africa in recent months.
Two months ago another Greek-owned vessel was hijacked and then released in the area, after taken some 30,000 metric tons of fuel.
